In an exclusive interview
with PatinCarrera.com, Johnny Diethelm,
member of the SRV Swiss Federation of
Roller Sports, announced their Swiss team
that will be participating in the World
Championships 2004.
Switzerland was one of
the biggest revelations of the Senior
European Championship recently held in
Holland where they obtained three silver
medals and three bronze medals. They emerged
fifth in the overall category, ahead of
other European nations like Germany, Belgium
and Spain.
There will be 13 skaters
in the Swiss team but only 8 will participate
in all 3 track, route and marathon races.
The remaining 5 skaters will concentrate
on the marathon race.
For senior
men category, Alain Gloor and the young
Raphael Pfulg, both European medallists
will have higher chances to obtain medals
for Switzerland, assisted by Roger Schneider,
Christen Marc and Nicolas Iten. For the
marathon, they will be accompanied by
Adrian Leemann, Reto Felder and Adrian
Kung.
For senior ladies category,
Nadine Gloor, one of the great promises
of the skating world will race, in search
of the highest podium finish. Her team
mates for the marathon race will be Pia
Knecht, Celine Weiss and Nadine Benz .
Severin Widmer will be the only Swiss
representative in the junior men category.
He obtained excellent results in the latest
Junior European Championship held in Pamplona,
Spain. |
