With a strong team, Germany goes in search of medals in Italy.

The German speed skating team, reputed to be one of the stronger European teams, is training hard in Italy now as the countdown to the World Championships begins.

A total of twelve athletes form the German delegation for the most important race in the speed skating world. This year, Germany will strive hard for medals after leaving empty handed last year in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.

The German team’s strongest team player is sprinter Matthias Schwierz who did very well for time trials on road in senior men and experienced junior masculine team.

The German team will be directed by Marion Kiebling and Katharina Berg.

Senior Men: Matthias Schwierz, Nico Wieduwilt, Benjamin Zschaetzsch and Daniel Zschaetzsch

Senior Ladies: Jana Gegner, Tina Struver, Michaela Neuling and Dennise Kessler.

Junior Men: Christian Grimm, Michael Ruhling and Yannick Schimek

Junior Ladies: Sissy Schmidt
