France
comes in toned this year and they will look for to be
central characters in the Spanish territory where the
primary goal will be to improve the crop yielded last
year in Cali which was: 1 gold, 3 silvers and 2 bronze.
After an almost perfect performance at the European
Championship in Gera (Germany), the impression grew
more than expected and they are positive about what
can be happen at the greatest meet of the season in
Spain thist September. Nine of twelve races disputed
were won by the French Team showing a remarkable superiority.
The Belgian, Hebbrecht, and the Italian Francolini where
unique and unbeatable for the French Team. The rest
of the races were all in the French guys favour, with
an unmatched yield of Guyader, Contin, Boucher, Soursseau
and Despaux mainly.
Six senior men will be defending the
colours of the team coached by Serge Garderes and all
of them have serious chances of being rewarded with
a podium result: for that reason, next August 19th,
the team will travel to Gijon to train two weeks previous
at the beginning of the competitions. In addition, the
coach will organize a mini-trials races to decide who
will be the French representatives in each short distances
-200, 300, 500 and 1000 meters- since the level is very
similar between all of the team.
"First
I must to show to the trainer that I can compete at
the Worlds. We will have a mini-trials for the sprinters
as many of us have a high level. For sure then when
I’m racing I’m going to win" said the
French World Champion Thomas Boucher.
For the long distances the things are
much clearer. Alexis Contin and Yann Guyader seem to
have a place assured in each long competition. Both
showed they were high ranking in Gera and racing together
they will be a hard pair to beat.
Guyader
added "This year I will focus on the elimination
road race and in the marathon because till now I did
not have time to train very well for the hardest points
race. I am very committed to the World Inline Cup. Also
I bet for the relays on track, I believe that with Contin
and Despaux we have probably the best team to win".
About the ladies; the French team matured
a lot this year and in Gera, Aurelie Duchemin conquered
a valuable continental title. Showing they are not far
from the great powers like Colombia and South Korea.
Laetitia Le Bihan, Justine Halbout and Cindy Etonno
complete the French list.
The
main deficit of the French Team is on junior categories
with the exception of Pierre Laurent that was the surprise
in Naestved (Denmark) when he won the 200 m Time Trial.
The rest of the team was far from the expected level.
Nolan Bediaf and Elton de Souza in mens and Lucie Peruzzetto
and Carine Talbourdet on ladies complete the junior
French team. |
