TRACK: Unlike the last two CIC World Championships which were ‘battled’ in South Korea and Colombia respectively, this year the venues in Gijon will be at different locations.

The track competitions will be held over three days at the Moreda Bank Track. It has been rebuilt especially for the event. The organisation has invested more than 1.5 Million Euros to make the fabulous venue be undercover The first under cover track-event at Worlds was in Perth, Australia in 1995 and the second was in Pamplona, Spain in 1998.

The bank track was built to the specifications from the CIC Rulebook with a modern track,similar in characteristics to those used in 2004 and 2006 World Championships in Italy and South Korea. It is 200 meters in length and 6 meters in width with a Vesmaco Roller SP 101 synthetic coating.

ROAD: The road competitions will be held in the historical Equestrian Complex of Las Mestas. The circuit is 428 meters long and 8 meters Wide and promises to be really fast with a beatiful long final straight., This magnificant complex is located approximately 400 meters from the Cantabrico Sea.

MARATHON: The classic marathon will be the pinnacle of events in Spain. It is truly worthy of being the final event to close the 2008 CIC World Speed Skating Championships in Gijon and they will be held at a beautiful urban circuit with 3 km laps in front of the beach where thousands of spectactors will enjoy the passion of our sport.
