Located
in the south of Jiangsu Province and in the middle
of the Yangtzu Delta, Suzhou has a dazzaling history
and is packed with culture. It is a great tourist
region for the thousands of overseas guests who
visit each year. Suzhou
has approximetly 5.7million inhabitants with
1.1 million of them living in the city.
Suzhou
has a history dating back over 2500 years. It
was founded in 514BC and in 581AC it was christened
Suzhou during the Sui Dynasty.
The
city is full of elegant and classic gardens,
delicate old houses, beautiful bridges, imposing
lakes and the numerous historical places of
art that adorns the city.
With
60% of the surface covered by water, Suzhou
surprises the tourist with channels that serves
to communicate the different zones from the
city. 10% of the surface area are cultivated
fields and 30% of the remaining areas are mountain
ranges where the Lingyan, Tianping, Yushan and
Tiger hills are the most famous.
The
most important river is the Yangtze, while Yangcheng
and Chenghu lakes are really important as well.
The
average temperature is of 16 degrees Celsius
with subtropical climate with more than 2000
hours of annual sunny weather and it is also
quite humid.
At
present, Suzhou is a gateway to China as it
opens its arms to the world with modern construction
and great new projects based around an intense
commercial and industrial hive of activity.
